And the Comic Hiatus is OVER!
Thank you so much for your patience, guys!
I've been working on the comic slowly over the hiatus (which as it turns out working on your own stuff is very important when working on a big commission because you have the freedom to experiment, let loose, then apply things you learn to your commission. It's probably a good idea to spend at least an hour working on your commission before doing a bunch of personal stuff though, lol).
While I've given myself some breathing room, I've been studying more extensively the works of Todd Lockwood, Larry Elmore, and Anne Stokes- who have basically been my Holy Trinity of dragon artists that made the biggest impact on me growing up. Finding these artists again, making sketches and studies (no tracing, no making copies of their work to sell!), it's really helped me improve my dragons.
It's really amazing how much going back to basics - ie, studying the Masters - really helps you improve.
My Inspirations: Todd Lockwood, Larry Elmore, and Anne Stokes
I even made a quick study inspired by the classic Anne Stokes one above. Looks like Anne's dragon mother has much better handle on things than Ari. Not SUPER happy with this, but trying to shut that part of out of my brain- more excited for the re-draw next year! (Then again, I'm looking at Anne Stokes in comparison... not a good thing to do, guys!)
Thank you, Readers!
So, I want to conclude this by thanking you guys so much for your patience! I wasn't sure how you'd feel when I paused the comic, but you all have been supportive and really, I can't thank you enough! You're really the ones who keep this going, and I'll never forget that!
