Nun Chuck

I've been listening to the LOTR audiobook at work, and it inspired me heavily when writing this week's scenes. I decided to give the clerics' way of speaking a similar flowery-ness almost archaic way.
They're great lovers of the old traditions, and their language reflects that. I also wanted to make the environment this sort of "bathed in light" feel, like you're there, and you feel light, and happy, and safe.
Also, since I tend to spend hours on these pages, my art-critic brain tends to overthink the meaning of what's taking place (some of what I do is intentional, but definitely not everything).
That being the Killjoy Corner.

At first glance, it doesn't mean anything, it was just a throwaway joke, then I realized it could be interpreted as the nuns having an authoritarian leaning and not liking to hear anything that deviates from their hopes (as is the risk when your community depends too much on old traditions).

Then, I went down this rabbit hole:
You may have encountered, or have been, someone who LOVES ruining fun. These are the kind of people who upon hearing Land Before Time was your favorite movie growing up, just can't WAIT to tell you that the cute little girl who played Ducky was brutally murdered by her father at just seven years old.

Everything they say is true, yes, but it's not kind or necessary. There's no particular reason why they want to "ruin your childhood", or otherwise take any joy you're finding and need to paint it in a negative light, it doesn't really benefit you in any way, they're just bitter and miserable and want you to feel bitter and miserable too (if anyone here's seen Bojack Horseman, Diane is this kind of person).
So, it inspired me to maybe make a scene later on where Sister Maggie is reading to the orphans a wonderful, happy story where fairies paint the leaves, beetles, and bugs, and Sister Kitty butts in talking about the scientific reasons for all of those- to which Maggie says something like "Yes, yes! They have natural sciences with you later!" and banishes her to the corner.
